Authorities arrested a 12-year-old student today, for bringing a loaded gun to school.
According to a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office press release, the gun was found on a McAdory Middle School student.
Another student notified a school administrator that the suspect showed the gun to him.
The suspect was located, and a school resource officer took control of the weapon without incident.
The 38-caliber revolver was in a school binder, along with two knives.
The student apparently took the gun from his home without his mother’s knowledge.
The student is being held at Family Court on misdemeanor charges of carrying a concealed weapon, carrying a pistol without a license, and a felony charge of certain persons forbidden to possess a pistol.
