Age-related problems in pets:
- Routine health issues: dental, arthritis, skin growths
- Serious health issues: cancer, heart or kidney failure

Geriatric age of dogs:
- Giant breeds, 5-6 years
- Large breeds: 6 – 7 years
- Medium to small breeds: 7 – 8 years

Geriatric age of cats: 8 – 9 years

Here's a checklist of things to watch for as pets get older:
- Bathroom habits
- Appetite
- Acitivity level
- Regular checkups
