Operation School Bell®
Operation School Bell® is the signature philanthropic program of National Assistance League.
OSB provides new clothing, a coat, socks, underwear and personal care products to children in need. School uniforms are also provided in school districts that require them.
Volunteers fit each child and help them select clothing. For many children, these are the first clothes that belong solely to them.
To reinforce reading and literacy, each student also receives a new book.
Since 1985, over 16,000 children have been clothed in the Birmingham area.
For the school year 2008 -2009, over 1400 students were clothes at 22 area schools.
Over 70 evacuees from hurricanes Katrina and Rita were served.
