Fireworks celebrations this weekend could scare your pets. There are a few things you can do to make sure you and your pet has a happy and safe holiday.

1. Keep your pet inside the house in a secure room or kennel.

2. Play soothing music or turn the TV to a “pet friendly” channel. This will help drown out loud noises from fireworks.

3. Make sure your pet is wearing a collar with current ID tags. Microchips are also very helpful in the event your pet becomes lost. However, nothing takes the place of a tag with your current contact details!

4. If your pet does get frightened and escapes, immediately call your local humane society, animal control office, veterinarians, and the microchip company with whom your pet is registered. Time is critical when a pet becomes lost.
