Believe it or not, this is not a "woe is me" post about the perils of motherhood or dealing with a toddler. In fact, potty training may be the first parenting hurdle my husband and I have leaped over with no problems. Maybe I'm jinxing it now, but I must brag on how quickly Cruz picked up on the whole concept. We had put off attempting potty training for months, honestly, because I thought it would be very messy, time consuming and frustrating. But when we finally started it only took 4 days before he figured it all out. Now his favorite thing to say is "Mommy, I gotta to go!" And he says it with such immediacy and drama I can't help but laugh. Then he runs as fast as he can to the bathroom.
Now that we have that behind us, I wonder what's so great about it? Instead of changing maybe 5 diapers a day, we're now running to the bathroom every 25 to 30 minutes....unzipping, pulling down, pulling up, zipping, washing hands, etc. And now, no matter where you are, i.e. on the interstate, in the middle of a mall, almost asleep at bedtime, you have to stop what you're doing and quickly fina a bathroom as soon as you hear those word..."Mommy, I gotta go!" Again, this is not a "woe is me" post....but I kinda miss diapers.
